What are vitamins?
The word vitamin is derived from the Latin “vita” meaning life and “amin” which means organic composition. There are thirteen vitamins clustered in one or two different categories: lipophilic or fat soluble and hidrofilitas, soluble in water. Fat-soluble vitamins include vitamin A, D, E, K. Water soluble vitamins are: B1, B2, B6, B12, panthenol, C, biotin, folate, and niacin.

The vitamins are found naturally in plants and animals. Vitamins are essential for normal body functioning. With few exceptions the body can not produce or synthesize vitamins. To obtain these vital nutrients the body needs external sources in the form of vitamins. Vitamins are necessary for the functioning of organs and contribute to cellular metabolism.

Vitamins must be supplied regularly to the body either through food or taking supplements. Our usual diet and lifestyle have a major impact on total body wellness. Poor dietary habits, a diet high in sugar, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and rob the body of essential nutrients like vitamin C and B.
