Dermatologists recognize that the main underlying cause is exposure to visible light daily, not just the sun as is generally believed. Increases skin cancer in women under 40 years

skin cancerAt least two types of skin cancer have increased among women younger than 40 years in the U.S., due to sun exposure and use sunscreen, according to a study released today.

The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, said that the increasing number of patients with this cancer shows that young people ignored the warnings of the risks of tanning leather.

The number of cases has been detected in the types of the disease known as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC, for its acronym in English) and elementary cell carcinoma (BCC), they said.

The evil may emerge throughout the body, although the most common areas of infection are exposed to sunlight.

In 2000, diagnosed in the U.S. were approximately 800,000 new cases of BCC and 200,000 SCC. (more…)

Protect your skin from the sun

As for oily skin, there is no need to exaggerate in the use of moisturizing cream. At skinned people recommend using a sunscreen throughout the year 15 (not greasy).

Develop artificial skin can heal wounds

Led by Paul Kemp, the British biotech company Intercytex, the researchers created a fabric that manages to incorporate much better real skin that none of the alternative skins used so far.

To develop the new tissue, called ICX-SKN, scientists used fibrin gel, a protein that contributes to the healing of wounds, and fibroblast cells taken from human skin, reported the BBC.

The artificial skin is created from a matrix made of fibrin, which are added to human fibroblasts, cells that synthesize and maintain the extracellular matrix of the tissue itself.

In a process that replicates the way the body develops new skin, created tissue cells produce another protein, collagen, which makes the matrix more stable and resistant to changes during the healing process. (more…)
